Search Queries
Text entered in a search box is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
A message sent by email may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside our organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics logs may collect technical details about a visit:

Douglas County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of individual criminal records. It publishes general directions to official sources such as the Douglas County sheriff, Wisconsin Circuit Court, Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Information Bureau, Wisconsin DOC, and Wisconsin Stay Safe. Visitor data is not assembled into third-party criminal files or consumer reports. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search tools. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices apply to information submitted through those tools. We do not control those policies, so users should review the provider's notice before starting a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Wisconsin courts, Douglas County offices, state departments, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy terms govern. Review those terms before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may also use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select ads. That processing is controlled by those providers.

Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people younger than 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when its presence is brought to our attention.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights concerning personal data. Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. ยงยง 19.31 to 19.39, governs public access to Wisconsin government records and does not turn this private website's visitor logs into county records. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:

- ask that inaccurate retained information be corrected
- request deletion where no legal reason requires retention
